Galliford Try created a new home for the reformed No.12 Squadron, a joint RAF/Qatari Emiri Air Force squadron at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
The works included a new squadron headquarters building and eight aircraft shelters, as well as training and maintenance hangars and equipment stores.
The new HQ utilised modern methods of construction with an innovative mixture of modular off-site sections and more robust reinforced concrete to meet heightened requirements.
The project complied with BIM Level 2 and achieved a DREAM Excellent rating, while robust security measures were enforced on site, with all operatives required to be cleared to BPSS level, with supervision and escorts requiring SC security clearance. This was all carried out by our in-house security team.
The facility enables British and Qatari air forces to work together as part of an agreed package of training and cooperation, following the sale of 24 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to Qatar.
