The new Queensferry High School is a 1200 place replacement school with greatly enhanced sports and community facilities, including six lane swimming pool, a new fitness centre, dance studio and floodlit games pitches.

Queensferry High School has been a benchmark project for the Scottish Future Trusts.
The Queensferry High School team linked the building energy model to the Revit design model which allowed for multiple design scenarios to be quickly modelled and appraised in terms of thermal, daylighting and energy performance. This meant the accuracy of performance modelling was greater, real long-term energy savings have been delivered and capital costs reduced.

The design was an early adopter of key principles that underpin Passivhaus design, and subsequently formed part of BB101:2018, resulting in the project being a Pathfinder in Scotland for sustainable, low energy design in Public Sector buildings.

As well as being at the forefront of sustainable design with the project receiving Low Carbon Innovation Funding from the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) the project was also a Pathfinder for the ‘Construction Quality Assurance Initiative’ with many initiatives now being taken forward as industry best practice.

Queensferry High School will provide high quality, modern facilities for pupils and teaching staff, and features a low carbon design which will deliver energy efficiencies. The school will also provide much needed community facilities and many of the areas will be easily accessible to the public.” Cllr Ian Perry Convener for Education, Children and Families, City of Edinburgh Council
