HMYOI Deerbolt

Over three different phases our team has refurbished HMYOI Deerbolt, a secure facility for young people serving the North East of England.

The project team had to operate in an extremely sensitive environment, operating in a staggered fashion to ensure that the impact on the vulnerable inmates was kept to a minimum, as well as being able to maintain the highest security standards.

Safety systems were upgraded throughout all buildings, including alarms, misting systems smoke extraction and emergency lighting, as well as extensive perimeter lighting. New modern ventilated windows were installed to protect glazing from attack.

Due to the nature of the inmates involved, the refurbished cell blocks required immediate occupation with a zero defect standard demanded and adhered to.
