HMP Long Lartin

Our team engaged in a major refurbishment of HMP Long Lartin, a Category A custodial facility in Worcestershire.

The facility underwent a number of upgrades, including the replacement of all security systems, as well as design and build of a new Category A control room and command centre. The refurbishment element included all alarms systems, emergency lighting, energy systems, and new waste macerators for the entire site.

Because of the high-security nature of the prison, all staff had to receive counter terrorism clearance accreditation. Logistics were heavily effected in terms of movement and materials both for security purposes but also as a result of completing the construction while the existing control and command centre remained in operation.

Security demands also meant that the new control concept adopted for the facility was thoroughly tested before final commission, with prison staff trialling the buildings to ensure they met the exacting standards.
