The highly ambitious Barony Campus marks East Ayrshire Council’s largest ever single investment in its education portfolio bringing together the Robert Burns Academy, Lochnorris Primary School, Cherry Trees Early Childhood Centre and Hillside Additional Support Needs (ASN) School.
Combined, the schools on the campus provide a through school for over 2500 young people aged 2-18 from Auchinleck, Cumnock and the surrounding areas. The schools e buildings making up the campus have been conceived and organised as four linked structures, with three school pavilions, set over two to three storeys.
In addition to the high quality, innovative learning spaces the Barony Campus is home to state of the art sports facilities including a 400m four-lane running track, with six sprint lane, two full-size floodlit synthetic pitches - designed to World Rugby standards, a seven-aside floodlit synthetic pitch and indoor and outdoor basketball courts. The campus will be available for community use, becoming a centre of excellence for local sports clubs and associations to use.
As part of Hillside ASN school, the campus also includes therapy spaces, a hydrotherapy pool, soft play room, rebound room and life skills kitchen to support the pupils needs.
The project has won multiple awards, including Project of the Year at the Education Estates Awards and a Scottish Design Award.
