The award winning A5360 Anstey Lane highway redevelopment and improvement scheme was built on behalf of Leicestershire City Council.
The project was undertaken to improve travel links between the city of Leicester and other surrounding regions, as well as helping to reduce congestion in the area. The works involved a number of improvements to the road, including installing new traffic lights, creating additional vehicle lanes, and work on the large roundabout which connects the A5630 and the A46.
Work was also carried out to improve pedestrian and cyclist access to the area, as well as to support the extra traffic on the roads, which has been an issue since a new 3,000 home housing development was completed at nearby Ashton Green.
The project has been the recipient of multiple awards, including winning the Most Considerate Site at the national Considerate Constructors Scheme (CSS) awards, as well as winning the Medium Project Award at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) East Midlands Merit Awards.
This award success was due in part to Galliford Try’s commitment to sustainable building approaches, as the site utilised a hybrid power system, saving 220 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
