Galliford Try Building Southern’s Zak Scarborough has been shortlisted for Construction News’ (CN) Workforce Awards in the Apprenticeship of the Year category for demonstrating outstanding promise.
Zak, Trainee Technician, was recognised for his contribution to consistently demonstrating remarkable dedication and attention to detail. His career with the Group started when a site tour turned into a work experience placement, leading to a Technical Apprenticeship. Zak’s technical expertise and diligence set him apart during FieldView operations, where he excelled in his responsibilities and also identified and communicated critical improvements, showcasing commitment to quality and efficiency.
Commenting on Zak’s nomination, Gavin Bridge, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building Southern, said: "Congratulations to Zak on his nomination. His commitment to ongoing learning and his noteworthy contributions have distinguished him as an emerging talent with a bright future. In 2022, he was also recognised with our Regional Young Manager of the Year Award. Zak's strong communication skills and proactive approach to tackling challenges have made him an essential member of our team and I wish him the best of luck for the awards in November."
Zak added: “I feel extremely proud to have been nominated and shortlisted for the Construction Workforce Apprentice of the Year Award. I have been on an incredible journey since starting my work experience placement with Galliford Try. I am very grateful and fortunate for the opportunities presented to me as they have allowed me to grow and prosper within the business through hard work and dedication. I look forward to the results in November and hope for a successful outcome.”
The CN Workforce Awards created by Construction News celebrate the outstanding achievements of those striving to make the construction industry and their organisations great places to work.
Winners will be announced on 14 November at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
