The Morrison Construction Building Central team is delighted to have handed over a newly-revamped clubhouse to the Castlevale Youth Development Club in Craigmillar, Edinburgh, after the completion of renovation works.
For the past year, the team, mainly working at the nearby Castlebrae Community Campus project, has been helping the Castlevale cause, bringing the previously dilapidated changing rooms back to life and providing a suitable facility for the young people playing football.
As well as providing materials and much-needed labour, using Morrison’s well-established volunteering scheme, a number of specialist subcontractors were gathered to provide assistance. The scheme came together with the generosity of Arthur McKay for electrical works and heating; Keyes Bros for plasterboard and joinery; Lesterose for blockwork; Altro for donating flooring and wall protection; Veitchi for installing flooring; Space Zero for donating hand dryers; Dunedin for all taping and decoration; Alegeco for donating changing benches and Miller Fabrications for metal cladding security doors.
Jim Johnstone, Head of Communities and Social Impact for Morrison Construction Building Central, commented: “Being a socially responsible business is part and parcel of who we are, and for our people, taking part in community projects such as this one can be as rewarding as the day job, producing schools and public facilities. Both can have a great impact on the people whose lives they touch and we are delighted that the young people going through the Castlevale club now have a clubhouse they can be proud of.”
