Galliford Try's Building East Midlands team has won the ProCon Leicestershire Award in the Medium Non-Residential Scheme of the Year category for the Leicester Endoscopy Decontamination Unit at Glenfield Hospital.
Delivered on behalf of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, the new unit at Glenfield Hospital aims to improve existing services by centralising the decontamination facilities into a single, state-of-the-art location, with increased capacity, service resilience and potential for future expansion.
In addition to a new centralised facility over two floors, this unit features a layout designed to support clinical requirements, with a central processing area surrounded by utility rooms and staff accommodation.
The new unit will help meet the growing demand for gastrointestinal endoscopy in the UK by focusing on early diagnosis and better screening uptake and was recognised for its design excellence and how it will meet occupier needs.
Jon Marston, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building East Midlands, said: “The Endoscopy Decontamination Unit is an excellent facility that makes a real difference to the quality of services that patients receive regionally.
“We are delighted to have played our part in creating this new building and it is fantastic to have its success acknowledged in this way as a winner of a ProCon Leicestershire award. I congratulate our team and all the stakeholders involved for their achievement.”
The annual ProCon Leicestershire Awards honour the best new residential, non-residential, infrastructure, regeneration projects and the people who develop, design, and construct winning developments.
