Galliford Try once again welcomed students and those interested in careers in construction to its sites across the country as part of Open Doors 2025.
Open Doors is an initiative delivered by industry group Build UK that offers a behind-the-scenes look at live construction projects and the wide range of careers available in the industry.
Teams from across the business hosted visits at multiple sites, giving attendees valuable insights into modern construction methods, career pathways, and the impact of the built environment on local communities.
In the North East and Yorkshire, more than 120 students and job seekers visited Greenhead Academy, Woodlands Academy, and Great Park Academy, while in the North West, Wigan Galleries, Bolton University Collegiate School Quest Trust, and Brentwood SEND School provided engaging site experiences for local schools.
Meanwhile, in the West Midlands and South West, visits included Coleg Gwent bricklaying students going to Ebbw Fawr Learning Community extension, pupils from Woodlands School exploring inclusive career opportunities at The Rise, a private rental sector project in Cardiff, and City of Bristol College students visiting the South Bristol Youth Zone.
Our Infrastructure business also took part in Open Doors, with the A47 Blofield and Tuddenham dualling schemes welcoming visitors to showcase the major highways development and the skills required in civil engineering.
Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented: “The Open Doors initiative is a great way to offer a glimpse into the world of construction and to show young people some of the roles we employ in our business. Thanks to all the teams taking part for facilitating the visits, and hopefully we will have inspired successful future careers for some of our visitors.”
