Galliford Try’s Building North West business has signed a contract for the redevelopment of Castle Hill Primary School in Todmorden, Calderdale.
Awarded under the Department for Education's (DfE) Construction Framework 2021, the project forms part of the School Rebuilding Programme and will deliver a modern, Net Zero Carbon in Operation school, designed to meet the needs of future generations.
The project will replace the existing two-block school with a single, state-of-the-art building, bringing all pupils together under one roof. Designed with accessibility in mind, the new school will feature level access across the site, addressing both internal and external mobility challenges.
Inspired by the school’s vision - ‘Building Independence, Broadening Horizons, Brightening Futures’ - the redevelopment aligns closely with supports the DfE’s commitment to provide ‘Schools for a Better Future.’ The new school design references the original Victorian Castle Hill School, ensuring a connection to the site’s heritage while delivering a high-quality, sustainable learning environment.
Darren Parker, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building North West, commented: "We are delighted to be working with the Department for Education on this transformative project for Castle Hill Primary School. Our focus is on delivering a high-quality, sustainable building that meets the needs of pupils, staff, and the wider community, ensuring a positive and lasting impact for generations to come."
