Galliford Try’s Building London and South East Commercial business has received multiple accolades across the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) London Awards that recognise outstanding architecture, and the Schüco Excellence Awards which showcase the very best contributions to deliver architectural intent.

The redevelopment of 388-396 Oxford Street, now known as ‘The Parcels Building’, designed by Grafton Architects and T P Bennet for Duke Street Property received a RIBA London Award. The development was praised for its retention of the 1957 structure and for breathing ‘new life into an outdated retail and office block’.  By preserving the original structural frame, the project reduced the need for new materials, thereby enhancing its sustainability.

The project has collected several prestigious awards including the Architect’s Journal Architecture ‘Refurbishment of the Year’ award, a prize from the Society of Façade Engineering, and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Façade Design and Engineering award in the ‘UK Project of the Year for Sustainability’ category.

Continuing its award-winning streak, The Parcels Building secured both the 'Refurbishment and Adaptive Reuse Building' accolade and the coveted title of Overall Winner at the Schüco Excellence Awards. The judges expressed profound admiration for the project, highlighting the remarkable scale and the exceptional levels of fit and finish that were achieved throughout the project.

Additionally, project 1-4 Marble Arch located in London's West End, earned the Steel Award at the Schüco Excellence Awards. Designed by AHMM, the 1920s-built façade was preserved using a sophisticated framework, followed by a meticulous ‘top down’, floor-by-floor demolition process. Judges praised the project for its clear-sighted vision, meticulous attention to detail, expert use of Jansen steel systems, and high-quality execution.

Commenting on the wins, Matthew Pool, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building London and South East Commercial, said: “This recognition is a great achievement, showcasing our teams’ collective dedication and commitment to promoting sustainable building practices across multiple projects.”
