Galliford Try’s teams from across the country have been recognised with four nominations at the Construction News Workforce Awards.
Two project teams, at 1-4 Marble Arch in London, and Monk Bridge in Leeds, have been named as finalists in the Project Team of the Year category, highlighting the fantastic performance of the people involved in these well-received schemes.
The 1-4 Marble Arch project saw the complex reconstruction of the 1920s building for The Portman Estate, retaining the original façade while completely replacing the remainder of the structure. Meanwhile, the £104m Monk Bridge scheme, has seen the phased construction of five new build-to-rent accommodation blocks, regenerating the site adjacent to Leeds city station.
The Construction Mentoring Partnership Scheme, created by the Building Southern team at the HMP High Down project has been nominated for CSR Initiative of the Year. The programme was launched to offer prisoners work placements, learning new skills and opening up opportunities to work in construction following their release.
Finally, Galliford Try’s Choose the Right Path Virtual Reality training system has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Learning & Development award. The interactive training package has been targeted at creating a reduction in falling object incidents and delivering impactful critical safety messages.
Bill Hocking, Chief Executive for Galliford Try, commented: “Being a people-orientated business is at the core of our mission, and we are delighted to be able to celebrate the success of our high-performing teams with this nomination. We look forward to the final awards to come and wish the best of luck to all those involved.”
