Galliford Try’s Building Southern team claimed two prizes at the National Constructing Excellence Awards for the Construction Mentoring Partnering Scheme (CMPS) at HMP High Down.
The initiative won the People Development and Value awards at the event, which provides a showcase of excellence in the built environment across England and Wales, bringing together the regional winners in each of the 16 categories.
The CMPS programme operated at Galliford Try’s project to build a facility for DHL at HMP High Down, offering prisoners work placements during the construction phase allowing them the chance to gain new skills, and open up opportunities to work in the construction industry following their release.
Gavin Bridge, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building Southern, commented: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the team to be recognised in this way. The CMPS is a truly innovative initiative that has the potential to help develop a lot of people into new roles within the construction sector, and I congratulate everyone who has been involved with this scheme.”
