Galliford Try’s Building North East and Yorkshire business has handed over the second phase of the Enterprise and Innovation Hub to North East Lincolnshire Council.
Following the successful delivery of the key worker accommodation wing in March, the team has now finished the flexible workspace and café wing, achieving practical completion for the entire development.
The 46-bed residential facility, which is already in use, supports NHS workers who need accommodation while working away from home for placements or training. The NHS is also considering renting the entire office space in the Hub to further expand its accommodation facilities.
The Enterprise and Innovation Offices comprise modern, contemporary commercial offices, with communal lounge facilities, rooftop terraces and shared garden space. The wing will also include a café and bar area with covered outdoor seating to provide additional collaborative and productive work and meeting spaces.
The superstructure consists of a structural steel framing system with a glass and cladding façade and a feature multi-pitched roof.
Designed with a ‘biophilic’ approach, the Enterprise and Innovation Hub’s layout integrates workplace and living spaces with natural elements to enhance wellbeing and productivity. The site’s central location on the former Scunthorpe market provides a welcoming public realm with outdoor seating and enhanced pedestrian links, creating an accessible community-focused space.
Cliff Wheatley, Managing Director at Galliford Try Building North East and Yorkshire, remarked on the significance of the project: “The Enterprise and Innovation Hub is a great asset to Scunthorpe and will support countless key workers throughout its lifetime. We’re extremely proud to have delivered such an important project.”
