Galliford Try is proud to announce that it has achieved a CDP score of B, an upgrade on the C achieved in 2022, in recognition of its commitment and action to address climate change.
CDP, the global non-profit organisation that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform, assesses companies on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of climate-related risks, and therefore provides a comparable dataset across industries. The CDP score is used by clients and supply chain, financial investors and policymakers.
By achieving a score of B, Galliford Try has demonstrated both awareness of the impacts of climate change, and that it is taking appropriate actions to reduce these in line with a carbon emissions trajectory aligned to the ambition of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Areas covered by the score include business strategy, governance, low carbon product use, energy use, setting meaningful targets, and value chain engagement.
Examples of Galliford Try’s progress in the last year, include:
- Receiving validation for its ambitious carbon reduction targets from the UN-backed Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Committing to PAS 2080 (Carbon Management in Buildings and Infrastructure) accreditation by 2025.
- Carrying out cross-industry collaboration to develop Scope 3 reporting technology
- Establishing a Low Carbon Team.
- Further increasing the electrification of its company car fleet, with 89% of vehicles now electric or plug-in hybrid.
Commenting on the achievement, Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said: “We recognise the importance of the climate change agenda. This is why monitoring and managing our impacts on the environment is a key part of our Sustainable Growth Strategy.
“I am delighted that we have achieved a score of B in just our second year of reporting and look forward to continuing to use the CDP disclosure process to help us prioritise further actions and provide transparent monitoring of our journey towards achieving our net zero commitments.”
