Galliford Try projects claimed two prizes at the annual Education Estates Awards in Manchester, the leading exhibition and conference for the education sector, partnered by the Department for Education (DfE).
Both successful projects were delivered by Morrison Construction Building Central, with Beatlie Campus claiming the award for Pupil/Student Experience, and National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) winning in the Project of the Year – Universities category.
Beatlie Campus, delivered for West Lothian Council in partnership with Hub South East, provides specialist education for pupils between ages three to 18. Along with the core education facilities, the school includes a hydrotherapy pool, two general purpose rooms, a life skills area, multi-purpose hall and sensory garden.
It also includes the most up-to-date assistive technology products which are designed to help facilitate greater independence for those with mobility issues to explore their surroundings by increasing, maintaining or improving their functional capabilities.
The project is a previous award winner at the Scottish Design Awards.
The accolade for NMIS, part of the University of Strathclyde, is the latest in an extraordinary run of success, with the project now in receipt of 18 major awards.
The flagship research and development facility is operationally carbon neutral in design, allowing for the facility to mitigate its impact on the environment. In addition to a fully digital 'factory of the future', the building features a manufacturing skills academy and a collaboration hub.
Claire Jackson, Education Director for Galliford Try, commented: “Both of these projects are inspirational buildings that are truly worthy of their awards, and represent the exceptional reputation that Morrison Construction and Galliford Try have in producing high-quality educational facilities.”
David Ewing, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Central, said: “I cannot speak highly enough of our teams and all our stakeholder partners in these two fantastic projects. Congratulations to all those involved for their well-deserved success.”
