Galliford Try celebrates supplier excellence at Old Trafford event

Topic Supply Chain

Date 27 Sep 2024

Galliford Try’s Building North West business hosted a Supplier Day at Old Trafford, Manchester, where the contributions of key partners were recognised through a series of awards.

The day brought together suppliers and stakeholders to celebrate achievements in safety, social impact, collaboration and innovation, and to name Partner of the Year. Nominees were also ranked on their dedication to Galliford Try’s Delivering Excellence initiative, a business-wide commitment providing clients with high-quality assurance from bid to aftercare.

The awards presented were made from reclaimed Siberian spruce, sourced through Community Wood Recycling and Emerge Recycling in Manchester. The spruce once formed part of the track at the UK National Cycling Centre (Manchester Velodrome) from 2007 to 2018 and was signed by Olympic champions Jason and Laura Kenny when it arrived for recycling.

The awards won throughout the day were:

Safety Award – PLF Limited

PLF Limited was recognised for exceptional safety standards on projects such as St Ann’s Primary School, where their dedication to positive behavioural safety and continuous improvement impressed both Galliford Try’s Lead Advisors and Directors. PLF also introduced innovations to reduce dust and mitigate silicosis risks, contributing significantly to a Delivering Excellence certified project.

Social Impact Award – Alto Construct Ltd

Alto Construct Ltd was honoured for outstanding contribution to social impact initiatives, including their work with Galliford Try on a CRASH Charity project at Emmaus in Merseyside. Alto’s support in delivering groundworks for a new modular building, despite challenging ground conditions, helped provide vital infrastructure for homeless charities, aligning with Galliford Try’s commitment to creating meaningful community impact.

Collaboration and Innovation Award – Sound Interiors Limited

Sound Interiors stood out for collaborative efforts and innovative problem-solving for their work on projects like the AO Arena and Kings Academy Bolton. Their ability to work seamlessly with other supply chain partners on complex issues at the AO Arena earned them high praise, as did their contribution to Galliford Try’s Delivering Excellence workshops.

Partner of the Year – Ameon Ltd

Ameon Ltd was named Partner of the Year for exceptional performance on projects including Kings Academy Bolton and Bolton University Collegiate School (UCS). Despite facing numerous challenges, Ameon’s commitment to safely delivering works on time and embracing a ’right first time’ ethos helped ensure Kings Academy was completed in time for a January 2024 opening. Their collaborative approach and dedication to Delivering Excellence made them a deserving winner.

Darren Parker, Managing Director for Galliford Try’s Building North West business, commented: "The Supplier Day at Old Trafford was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of our partners. Their commitment to safety, innovation, and social impact underpins our success, and we are proud to work alongside such dedicated teams."
