Galliford Try's Building Southern business has celebrated the groundbreaking at the new Special Educational Needs (SEN) Rowan Wood School and sixth form campus located on Hargood Road in Royal Greenwich.
The Galliford Try team was joined by dignitaries Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Council; Councillor Majid Rahman, Cabinet Member for Planning, Estate Renewal and Development; Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member Royal Borough of Greenwich; Ross Silcock, Executive Head Teacher, Compass Partnership of Schools; along with faculty staff and students from Compass Partnership of Schools and members from consultants Pick Everard and architects Haverstock.The £30m project in partnership with Southern Construction Framework (SCF) will provide 128 places for children aged 11 to19 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs.
The new educational facility will feature advanced teaching and learning spaces, including a multi-function hall, dining area, sensory rooms, a multi-use games area, libraries, and a dedicated sixth form area. Additionally, photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof, as the school aims to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.

The school is set to complete early next year.
