Galliford Try’s Building North West business has signed contracts to begin the first main construction phase of the Wigan Galleries redevelopment, to be known as Fettlers.

Following the completion of pre-commencement works, the project team will undertake the construction of the new £39.4m Market Hall and £4.6m Basement Enabling Works, representing a further £44m investment in this transformational project.

The works are part of a £135m masterplan, delivered in partnership with Cityheart, which will create a dynamic retail, leisure, commercial and residential hub in Wigan town centre.

Later phases are set to include a six-screen cinema, a music and e-sports venue, a 10-lane bowling alley, an indoor mini-golf centre, food and drink venues, evening entertainment spaces, a new hotel, 464 new homes and a modern market hall, as well as a landscaped public square for outdoor events.

Darren Parker, Managing Director of Galliford Try Building North West, said: “We are delighted to progress to the next phase of this landmark regeneration project. The redevelopment of Wigan Galleries will breathe new life into the town centre, creating a vibrant destination that will benefit residents, businesses, and visitors alike. We look forward to playing our part in bringing this ambitious vision to life.”
