Galliford Try’s Building Southern business is celebrating success at the Constructing Excellence South East Centre for the Built Environment (SECBE) Awards in the Delivering Value category for Bloxham Grove Academy.

Designed by ADP Architecture and delivered on behalf of the Department for Education, Bloxham Grove Academy, is a new special free school for students aged seven to 18 with cognitive, learning, social, emotional, and autism spectrum needs. It is operated by The Gallery Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust dedicated to providing exceptional education and support for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The project was recognised by the judges for the team's active involvement and commitment to inclusivity for SEND children. Highlights of the academy's inclusive approach included having an on-site assistance dog and using Makaton signs for visual communication and support for the students. The project achieved an 'Outstanding' rating of 47/50 on the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and generated an overall Social and Local Economic Value (SLEV) exceeding £800,000.

The academy is fast adding to its list of accolades, having recently won the Gold award at this year’s CCS National Site Awards that recognise exceptional projects that demonstrate commitment to support and drive positive changes within the construction industry.

Gavin Bridge, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building Southern, commented:Congratulations to everyone who contributed to creating this award-winning school and for fostering an environment where students feel empowered to succeed throughout the process. This well-deserved recognition highlights our commitment to truly understanding and meeting our client’s needs, providing an inspiring and engaging learning space that can be enjoyed by students and staff.”

Bloxham Grove Academy will now be in the running in the Constructing Excellence National Awards which will take place later this year.
